Contact Information Janice McCoy jmccoy@abcmcorp.com 515-360-2638 Website: www.iowapersondirectedcare.org
History The Iowa Person Directed Care Coalition began as part of a strategy from the St. Louis Accord in June 2005. All members felt that the best way for Iowa to begin was to develop the coalition, especially after hearing the speakers from the various coalitions that presented in St. Louis.
Organizational Structure The original groups that were represented at the St. Louis Accord became the Steering Committee for the Coalition. This consists of 12 representatives from various stakeholders. The group that attended the coalition had the background of the presentations from the St. Louis Accord and the team strategy that was developed in St. Louis as a foundation for starting the coalition. The stakeholders represented are: Continuum Health Care Services; Briggs Corporation, Iowa Caregivers Association; State LTC Ombudsman; Iowa Health Care Association, Iowa Association of Homes and Services for the Aging; Department of Inspections and Appeals; and the Iowa Foundation for Medical Care. The steering committee elected to use task forces or workgroups as sub committees with a representative of the steering committee on each sub group.
Funding The coalition currently does not have any type of funding. In-kind support is provided by each of the steering committee organizations. The coalition is discussing ways to possibly access some of the CMP money from the state and is also looking into 501 C-3 status.

- Conducted first state wide educational program on Person Directed Care (PDC: Initiating, Progressing and Sustaining)
